Question by Huang K: Any Macbook users who is used to Windows Interface here?
I would like to buy a Macbook. It looks really cool. (I’m actually falling for one of the biggest marketing scam in the world!)

But i have been using windows all my life… enjoyed the games for Windows (remember Doom?) and had a fun time installing antiviruses for windows.

Now if i switch to Mac, will i ever get used to t? I know there’s boot camp, but can it run normal WIndows games? If there’s boot camp, can i don’t use the Mac OS, which is said to be better… or should i just use the Boot Camp-ed windows to play games?

Please advice!
I need a gamer’s point of view here. I think most of you made your point, with supporters on both sides. However, if look matters and gaming & downloading seems to be a NECESSITY and not an option, which will you buy?

Yep, go for it. I was a Windows user for almost 20 years then switched to Mac just a year ago or so. Love it. It does take a little getting used to, but the tutorials and any classes you can take help a lot. You’ll figure it out quickly and be glad you switched.

you can run a windows emulator very well on mac. its illegal, but itll letyou play MOST games that are made for windows. if you get the really good emulators you can actually install windows vista on your mac, and youll be able to play ANY windows game. HOWEVER, you will still have mac os x on it if you want to use that for other things.

I have used Mac, and Windows both. I can switch from windows to macintosh without any problem. I can also use both, mac used a linux type of operating system where windows uses a windows system. you can find more about it at mac.com

    trusty me, stick with windows.
i bought a mac and ended up giving it away cuz i kept screwint it up and i dragged a presentation th this grey icon on the desktop, cuz i thought it was a folder.
it turns out that a “Trash”folder on a mac, permanitley deletes whatever you drag to it.

if you get a good MacBOOK, then spend a little more to get a PC with Windows. Even a cheap PC is good. If you are GAMING, then get at desktop and install that at your favorite desk location, with an Ethernet Cable to your router and/or High Speed internet. Visit Staples… YES, you can buy a gaming rig for under $ 700.

But use your MacBook for MAC stuff. Don’t mess it up with Windows CRAP.

Take a look at these two computers:
    MacBook Pro 15-inch – 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo – starting at $ 1,999

Macs aren’t really compatible with games and running emulators to play games eats memory that is crucial to the games you’re playing.

If you are proficient with Windows then you will have no problems using a Mac. It would be like a 737 pilot trying to figure out how to drive a Ford Taurus.

But if you are just going to run Windows on it there is no reason why you should buy a Mac, the equipment will be way more expensive and you might as well just buy a really nice PC for way less money.

I use both freely. I currently use a PC at home and a Mac at home but am growing more and more tired of all the PC issues out there and am saving up to have a Mac at home as well. For the most part it is very easy to get used to the Mac, just be a little patient at first, for it is very much like a PC environment.
As for Michael N, he is very wrong. You can buy a program called Parallels and run Windows and your Mac OS at the same time. I have people at work who do so on their laptops without any problem, just get an extra GB of RAM for better performance if you go this route.

If you just want the games, Id go for one of those cheep Windows XP comps. Get the Mac only if you know there are certain program that are designed for Mac. Boot camp comes preinstalled on any new Mac. You can then particiton the hard drive to install Windows. Do a web search for help converting form PC to Mac. I think that Mac interface is easy, but probably only because I’ve used it my entire life. It takes a while to get used to, but if you have the patience and the money..

if your 80% gamer 20% computer user get a PC
If your 80% computer user 20% gamer get a Mac
Both Bootcamp, VMWare and Parallels with run PC games but Macs are not famous for their fast graphics cards.. so you may get let down in that area.
