Some of them do get sent products by the makeup companies. The companies want to get cheap advertising, or sometimes they have a product coming out and they want to do consumer research (about every company does this with products, they just send them to youtube gurus necessarily). But alot, like Pinkiecharm, review the products honestly. Even if they get some products free, they also review products they buy. Xsparkage did a good video on this awhile back, you should check it out.

I have a Youtube account and only do stuff due to requests, but I do take them down. Same thing as my blog.
I do honest reviews, I am a makeup artist and junkie and I like to try stuff out and love to share what I think of it. Sometimes I do get offers to try certain products but I always ask them if I can be honest – if I can’t then I will refus it – if I can I will take it and let you know or my readers the most honest as possible.
Some people can do it for monetary reasons, but most of the people I know do this for the love and passiona dn really don’t get much monetary payment – more that they do get some free stuff.

they get paid for getting views on their channel theirs no exact amount….and alot of their opinions are quite true maybe some are’nt telling the truth…alot of the free products come from companies that arent qute known or who are launching products and since they are well known gurus they send them samples or free products to give reviews on not all of the gurus give completely cookie cutter statements some of them give a equal review but try not to make it sound too harsh. also you need to remember everyone is different and not everyone will have the same exact opinion on a product or use things the same way, so just because a product isnt the best for you it does not mean its going to be bad for them..you never know they could be telling the truth. also gurus purchase products and review them honestly and they do giveaways which is free things that the companies send or they purchase.
