If you’ve been involved in MLM businesses before, you’ll have received varying amounts of training from your upline team. No doubt you were instructed to compile a network marketing list – that’s a list of friends, family, work colleagues, tradespeople, basically everyone you’ve ever come into contact with. Then all you had to do was share with them your exciting new business.

But there’s just one flaw in this plan. Uncle Harry and Aunt Susan will surely wish you well – but why should they show the slightest interest in coming on board your network marketing business? What have they ever done, or said, that led you to believe they’re on the lookout for an extra income earner?

Now, your warm market is definitely worth approaching. These people already know, like and trust you, so you certainly want to talk to them and tap into their own contacts networks. Because if they don’t want what you have to offer, they may well know someone who does! But if your goal is to build a six or seven figure income in this industry, your network marketing list creation methods will need to extend way beyond family and friends.

So who SHOULD you be targeting? Well, the hottest prospects of all are the people who have already shown themselves to be in the market for your business, or something similar. That’s right – existing network marketers. Go look for people who are already involved in a network marketing business. You also want people who have been in a network marketing business in the past and those who are are looking at joining one. These are the people who are ready, waiting and raring to go.

Where do you find this potentially highly lucrative band of network marketers? Well, one thing’s for sure. At any one time a whole bunch of them will be online, surfing the web for information. Information that will help them choose the right network marketing business, build their network marketing list, generate free network marketing leads, train their distributors more effectively and so on.

So the smart way to build your own network marketing list is to go online and attract those prospects to YOU. There are numerous ways of doing this and it can be great fun. If you enjoy writing, why not pen some articles and start a blog? Be sure to do your key word research beforehand – identify the key words you want to rank well with and include these in your articles. If you do this right, you could and should find yourself on the first page of Google.

And pictures speak a thousand words – particularly moving ones. You could make some short videos and post them on YouTube and other video sites. Videos are increasingly popular as an online marketing tool and are really easy to put together with a handy little camcorder or webcam. There’s the added benefit that people will relate to you far more than they ever would through words on the page.

Another effective strategy is to contribute to forums, sharing your expertise and building trust and a reputation. But take care not to come across as directly pitching your network marketing business. You need to be genuinely helping people and providing value. Be patient, offer useful information and build relationships – do this and your network marketing list – and your business – will grow.
