Service wise, stright talk is better, virgin mobile runs on sprints network which is very bad in some areas, stright talk on the other hand uses verizons pre paid network, and if you know anything about verizon they have amazing coverage. So stright talk is better coveriage wise.. However virgin mobile is a lot cheaper with plans starting at $ 25

Samsung Slash Prepaid Phone (Virgin Mobile)
The phone is sturdy in terms of build. Some elements of the body are not the best and give away its affordable, basic nature. The battery gets practically red-hot after about seven minutes on a voice call. I talked for about 20 minutes once and almost singed my fingers. Perhaps indulging in a bluetooth headset for longer calls is warranted.

Virgin Mobile’s plans are better and more varied. It uses Sprint’s networks as it is Sprint’s prepaid branch.
Unless you absolutely need a physical keyboard, the LG Optimus V is much better. It has better specs, Android 2.2 (Intercept is 2.1 only), faster compiler, better screen resolution:
LG Optimus = 320×480
Intercept = 240×400
In fact, the odd resolution in the Intercept makes it incapable of properly running many apps in the Market.
There is a pretty big difference between Android 2.1 and 2.2. With 2.1 you won’t have access to many of the goodies which make the newer Androids so powerful. For instance, Voice Actions.
