okay so the first thing that you need to know about twitter is that it is a social networking site. But this has great advantages for the average business. If you remember the big MySpace boom, you will remember how many businesses started profiting from it. It was simple, you had a product or service, people became your friend because they were interested in your product, service, information, knowledge etc and you instantly had built a list of prospective buyers.
Now twitter obviously operates somewhat differently to MySpace, but it has its advantages as well. With twitter, you need “followers” and you essentially follow each other around. With MySpace, sometimes “friends” might visit you once in a blue moon because they happened to click on your site many moons ago and have since forgotten all about who you are and what you do. twitter is a lot or targeted then that, so the people who are choosing to follow you, have a very keen interest in who you are and what you know.
And this is something the internet marketers do not want you to know…
People are making very big bucks on Twitter each and every day. Don’t pay for an e book, when I can give you the twitter money making secrets for free.
Okay the first thing is, if you have a business that you would like to use twitter to grow, it falls into the category of a niche. you need to know what your niche is. Eg, Internet marketing, blog writing, gold products, baby care, gardening etc.
Now you need to find targeted leads. Make sure that your twitter profile is set up to show your interest, knowledge and experience in this area and post a link to your website on your twitter profile where your prospective followers will see it.
This will help index your site on popular search engines AND provide permanent back links to your website. Next do a little bit of digging around to find other successful people in your niche. Find the most popular people and follow their followers. Around 40-50% of these people will follow you back and instantly you have a targeted following. Try to provide free knowledge, eBooks, newsletters etc wherever possible (although do not give away all of your best secrets all at once) as you want them to remain interested in what you have to offer.
Over time, as your following grows and your trust and reputation build, more and more people will be looking at you as the go to guy in your niche. This means you will easily be getting a lot more clicks through to your website and as people already trust you, sales will not be a problem.
This can be a very slow way to go about using twitter for business, but it is free (including my tips) so if you have the time to slowly build this up, then do so. However there are many tools available to expedite the process included automated and semi automated programs that help build your list very fast with minimal effort on your part.
These products can certainly be a great investment for any business seeking more sales, but as with anything on the net, some are better than others and same are not worth a single cent. That being said, never tar them all with the same brush. Put a bit of research into the product before you buy it and you should not have any problems. Twitter is one of the fastest growing sites on the internet today. Any business would be crazy not to use it to their advantage.
